Vanessa is no stranger to serving her neighbors. Growing up, she was taught the importance of servant leadership through her family’s values and active involvement in service organizations. Currently a member of the Towamencin Environmental Advisory Council, she helps provide environmental education for residents and was instrumental in certifying the township as part of the Bird Town Pennsylvania program.

Vanessa also has experience as a community advocate. As an active member of Towamencin Neighbors Opposing Privatization Efforts, she helped mobilize her fellow residents to stop the sewer sale, focusing on communications. She also served on the citizen committee for the Government Study Commission that authored the Towamencin Home Rule Charter.

Vanessa led the charge to have Towamencin’s annual budget sessions live streamed and recorded so that all residents can have access to the decision-making process around municipal taxes & spending. She also mobilized fellow parents to request the installation of safety fencing at the new inclusive playground at Grist Mill Park.

Professionally, Vanessa has a background in operations & business services, ethics & compliance, and data analytics. In her current role as an Associate Director, she uses her knowledge in data systems & analytics to help identify risk and inform mitigation controls within the compliance organization at a large, highly regulated global company. She graduated with a Bachelor of Arts from Penn State University in Sociology and a minor in Information Systems & Statistical Analysis. Vanessa believes in making data driven decisions with an eye towards the impact those decisions have on people.

A mother of 2 school age children, Vanessa is also an active Girl Scouts volunteer, serving as cookie manager for both girls’ troops. Her family enjoys spending time outdoors, doing arts and crafts, and swimming at the Towamencin Pool in the summer.

Vanessa believes that Towamencin should work for all residents and families and is ready to meet the needs of her fellow neighbors.
